These are the most popular Halloween costume trends this year, according to Pinterest

In our humble opinion, it’s never too early to start thinking about your Halloween costume. Especially now that September is well underway, we can’t help but say sayonara to summer and hello again to spooky season. If you’re not quite sure yet what vibe you’re feeling for Halloween 2019, have no fear because the geniuses at Pinterest have released their annual report of the top Halloween trends of the year.

Pinterest’s list is based on what people are searching and pinning. It’s chock full of Halloween costume inspo no matter what your plans are—whether you’re dressing up with your squad, sporting a coordinating couples costume with bae, or flying solo on the creepiest night of the year.

This year, it seems nostalgia is king: Many of the top trending costume ideas are based on our favorite TV and movie characters.

It seems we have all the reboots and revivals dominating pop culture to thank for our costume inspiration. The top costume searches by those identifying as female include the Powerpuff Girls (which was rebooted in 2016 and is in its third season on Cartoon Network), Stranger Things (which unsurprisingly still dominates Halloween trends), and Harley Quinn, as well as staples like pirates, aliens, and mermaids, because you can never go wrong with the classics.

Thanks, Pinterest, but we definitely already had our eyes on a Scoops Ahoy costume this year.

When it comes to the top BFF and couple’s costumes, there’s no shortage of pop culture-inspired delights. The top five list includes Lilo and Stitch, Timon and Pumba, Woody and Bo Beep, Velma and Daphne, and a Pulp Fiction couples costume.

As for group costumes, same deal: Stranger Things, The Powerpuff Girls, Lion King, Aladdin, and Toy Story round out the list, because what better day than Halloween to have fun and tap into our inner child?

The top solo costume trends are an interesting mix, with aliens leading the way, followed by Gwen Stacy (from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Elton John, space cowboys, and Freddie Mercury right behind.

There has also been growth in inclusive costumes this year, with plus-size costumes and adaptive Halloween costumes seeing a spike in searches this year.
