Buying a home is a big decision and there are so many factors to consider when choosing your dream property. To make the decision easier, it's helpful to know what features homebuyers value most. That's why every year Fixr, a company that provides home improvement guidance, asks a variety of home construction and remodeling experts what the most popular home features among homebuyers are. Ahead, we're sharing the findings from this year's survey results.

Kitchen Island
Of the participants surveyed, 61 percent chose kitchen islands as the feature home buyers rate as their number one priority. Not only do kitchen islands allow for bar seating, they also provide homeowners with extra countertop space for cooking and preparing meals. What's more, kitchen islands often offer built-in storage space for cookware and other essentials.
Walk-In Pantry
Walk-in pantries are a must for home buyers, according to 43 perfect of the professionals included in the survey. This feature provides additional storage space and reduces clutter by providing plenty of shelves for snacks, beverages, cookware, serveware, and more.

Laundry Room
By 31 percent, a laundry room is deemed one of the most important features when looking for a home. This space gives homeowners a designated area to wash and dry their clothes, as well as keep cleaning supplies and laundry essentials out of sight.
Patio
Having an outdoor area where you can relax and enjoy some fresh air is something many prospective home buyers value. In fact, 30 percent of industry experts believe a patio is a top priority when looking for a new home, with 44 percent saying that a covered patio is ideal. With indoor-outdoor living still a top trend this year, the research states that a patio provides a comfortable spot to relax, eat, and entertain.

Hardwood Flooring
Hardwood floors will never go out of style, and more than a quarter of experts feel they're a top priority for home buyers. Hardwood flooring fills homes with a sense of character and warmth while also being more durable and long-lasting than some other flooring types.
Multi-Zone HVAC System
Twenty-eight percent of professionals say that they’ve seen clients prioritizing having a multi-zone HVAC system. This feature allows for precise temperature control in different areas of your home. According to the survey, by only heating or cooling the spaces in use, a multi-zone system can reduce energy consumption and lower utility bills.
Full Bath on the Main Level
Having a full bath on the main level of your home is considered a big priority for those looking to buy a home in 2024. A full bathroom eliminates the need to go upstairs, providing guests and residents easy access. Plus, having multiple full bathrooms adds resale value to your property.

Open Floor Plan
A majority of industry experts (53 percent) believe the open floor plan is here to stay. In fact, not a single expert Fixr surveyed believed that home buyers would prioritize having a closed-plan layout in 2024. Less walls can make your space feel more open and inviting, which is a bonus, especially if you entertain frequently.
