On Friday, May 18, 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis opened fire on classmates and teachers at Santa Fe High School in Texas, killing 10 and leaving several others wounded. Now, one of victim's mothers is speaking out about a possible motive in the devastating shooting.

Sadie Rodriguez, the mother of victim Shana Fisher, told the Associated Press that she believes her 16-year-old daughter was intentionally targeted Pagourtzi, after Fisher repeatedly rejected his advances.

"He kept making advances on her and she repeatedly told him no," Rodriguez says. She added that her daughter finally "stood up to him" by embarrassing him in class the week before the shooting, an incident Rodriguez believes may have contributed to Pagourtzi's decision to commit the shooting.

Rodriguez also spoke to BuzzFeed News about the situation between Pagourtzi and her daughter. Even after Fisher made it clear that she wasn't interested, his advances persisted. "He continued to get more aggressive."

Pagourtzi's family has released a statement about the attack, explaining that they are "as shocked and confused as anyone else."

"We are saddened and dismayed by yesterday's events at Santa Fe High School," the statement said. "We extend our most heartfelt prayers and condolences to all of the victims."
