Move Over, Ryan Seacrest: ‘The Conners’ Dish Up Live Commentary at the 2020 Oscars
The Conners have a brand-new gig this Oscars Sunday and it’s a lot fancier than what they’re used to.
Your favorite ABC on-screen family offered a brief live commentary during the 92nd Academy Awards and it was classic Conners.
In preparation for their upcoming live episode, the actors dusted off their improv skills and opened up about how they really feel about the Oscars. So, what did they think?
As you can see in the video above, Darlene (Sara Gilbert) was glad Parasite won, but wasn’t super pleased that it required “a lot more reading than we’re used to doing.” Upon seeing the back of her family’s heads on-screen, Harris (Emma Kenney) joked, “They must have invited some broke-a** people to the Oscars this year,” adding that someone clearly cut their own hair.
Dan (John Goodman) brought it home and told his TV family, “It’s always good to remember that somebody out there has it way worse than you do.” Until he realized he was actually looking at himself and his family, that is. Whoops!
Once the cat was out of the bag, Becky (Alicia Goranson) aptly noted: “We are the last family who should be on live TV.”
Despite their hesitancy, the Oscars were just a warm-up for the Conners, who will, in fact, be going live during the New Hampshire Primary for this week’s episode. It’s a first for the series and no one knows what will happen.
Tune in to watch The Conners on Tuesday, February 11 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.
Good luck, you guys.
