Movies to See Before They Leave Netflix in April
1) April 1:' Caddyshack' (1980)
Caddyshack became an instant hit at the 1980 box office, and is considered one of the funniest sports movies ever made. Our advice? Watch this if you're looking to scratch your comedy itch and Wedding Crashers (for the umpteenth time) just won't cut it. (But be sure to skip the sequel.)
2) April 1: 'Batman' (1989)
There've been many, many remakes, but the 1998 Tim Burton Batman is one of the best. With Michael Keaton in the leas, Jack Nicholson as the villainous Joker, and Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale, it's definitely worth the cinematic trip to Gotham City. Can't get enough? Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin are also expiring on the 1st, so be sure to catch up before they're gone.
3) April 1: 'Cool Runnings' (1993)
This family-friendly Disney tale tells the story of four Jamaican bobsledders who dream of competing in the Winter Olympics - and it's loosely based on the first real-life team to do just that.
5) April 1: 'Apollo 13' (1995)
It's old-school Tom Hanks and Kevin Bacon at their best as astronauts on an intergalactic mission to the moon. Based on the actual events of the Apollo 13 lunar expedition, things don't go as planned and the expedition takes a dangerous turn. With a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, you know it's worth the two-and-a-half-hour screen time.
6) April 1: 'The Pursuit of Happyness' (2006)
Bring your tissues to this one. Will Smith and real-life son Jaden star in this 2006 biographical drama, which charts a single father's year of homelessness. It's based on the true story of businessman and entrepreneur Chris Gardner.
7) April 1: 'Never Let Me Go' (2010)
An all-star cast - Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, and Andrew Garfield - confront the heartbreaking realities of jealousy, betrayal, and shocking secrets in this drama, based on the 2005 novel by Kazuo Ishiguro.
4) April 1: 'The Shawshank Redemption' (1994)
Stephen King's story of a friendship born in state penitentiary is a classic for a reason. Morgan Freman stars as contraband smuggler Ellis "Red" Reddings and Tim Robbins as convicted murderer Andy Dufresne in the seven-time Oscar nominee. It's kind of a cultural staple, so if you haven't seen it in awhile (or ever), now's a good time to fix that.
8) April 15: 'Leap Year' (2010)
If you love a good rom-com, Leap Year is a worth a watch. Amy Adams and handsome The Crown star Matthew Goode have incredible on-screen chemistry, but fair warning - the picturesque Irish backdrop may just spark your Gaelic wanderlust.
9) April 21: 'The Prestige' (2006)
Christopher Nolan's tense thriller tells the story of a legendary rivalry between two 19th-century magicians (Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale). Bonus: David Bowie cameos as Nikola Tesla.
10) April 22: 'Exit through the Gift Shop' (2010)
This Banksy-directed cult documentary charts the rise of Thierry Guetta - whom you may know today as street artist Mr. Brainwash.
11) April 27: 'Begin Again' (2013)
Keira Knighley shares the screen with Adam Levine and Mark Ruffalo in this charming love story, which follows two songwriters trying to break into the New York City's music scene.
