A little help, please?

A Telfair Street bakery and caterer that spent four years urging its customers to "stay sweet" needs help clearing out its historical pink house after closing its doors permanently.

"So many people have asked how they can help!" Dolce Darlin' owner Cat Musgrove posted on Facebook. Many people have offered to help her and her family pack up the house at 404 Telfair St. that was both business and home.

"If you have a trailer or a truck and you’re interested in helping, we’d be super grateful," Musgrove posted in an event announcement for June 29, starting at 7 a.m. "I’ll provide coffee and donuts since it’s so early! We’re doing it early because it’s gonna be a scorcher. I know that’s a Saturday morning sacrifice but we’d sure be grateful!"

Musgrove, who is battling an unspecified illness, also asked for volunteers to RSVP so organizers will have a better idea of how much coffee and how many doughnuts to provide.

Musgrove posted an online video April 28 announcing Dolce’s closure, citing health problems and the imminent departure of her two children, in their 20s, from the family home.

She ran the business out of 404 Telfair St. since 2020, after buying the former La Maison on Telfair restaurant from Zelda Sowinski, widow of the restaurant’s chef and owner, Heinz Sowinski. Dolce Darlin built a reputation for its fanciful baked goods and playing host to entertaining social events.
