Mrs. Alabama 2024 competes for the Mrs. America title wearing local, sustainable fashion
SCOTTSBORO, Ala (WHNT) — Hannah Seymour is a Scottsboro local, a mom, an accountant who owns her own firm, and she’s Mrs. Alabama.
Now, she’s on the stage in Las Vegas to compete for the Mrs. America title.

“I had been out of the pageant game for a really long time, and so I knew that I needed to add some new pieces to my wardrobe,” said Hannah Seymour.
She’s doing just that, but with one thing in mind: sustainability.
“Buying secondhand, or borrowing, or used is really important to me”, said Seymour.
She partnered up with one of her favorite shops: unclaimed baggage.

Unclaimed baggage is a store that gives clothes a new life after they’re lost in luggage.
“As someone on a budget and who really wanted to be conscious of what we were buying and bringing into our home, I came to unclaimed baggage,” said Seymour.
Sonny Hood is the store’s senior public relations manager. She said they were thrilled when Seymour approached them about a partnership.
“Not only are we, you know, just proud to support someone who’s interested and passionate about sustainable fashion, but Hannah’s here from Scottsboro,” Hood said. “She literally lives a few miles down the road from unclaimed baggage.”
Seymour shared that the goal stems from her family, and the example she’s trying to set for her kids.
“I think as a mom, it’s really important for me to model how to live and take care of our environment to my children and to the other people around me,” she said. “So, one of the ways that we do that is by really being conscious of where we’re purchasing our things and do we need something new and can we buy this secondhand?”
With a standard that feels like you need to purchase all new items, she’s proudly changing the norm.
