Mrs. Claus Reveals Santa's 10 Favorite Cookies

Santa Claus holding his favorite cookie

Much to his wife's dismay, Santa's epic yearly dash around the world is fueled entirely on sugar, butter, flour, and milk. While the self-proclaimed Toyminator was chatting up Alex Tresniowski via Skype, the sweet and surprisingly sassy woman instrumental to the success of the jolly man in red told us all about his favorite Christmas cookies.

Does Santa really love cookies, or is it all hype?

Listen, the love is real. He might love  cookies more than me. That body was built on Christmas cookies! Well, cookies and fruitcake. Gosh, I hate fruitcake, but he loves it.  I'll tell you what, though, he loves making those kids smile more than anything in the world. And then loves eating cookies. Lots of them. I'm thinking about having the elves print t-shirts that say "Body by Cookies." What do you think? Would you wear one?

I'd wear one. But wait a minute, did you say he loves fruitcake?  Should we leave him fruitcake instead?
Whoa, don't jump to conclusions. No fruitcake. I will not permit it. Once he starts eating fruitcake, he never stops—he'll eat it for every meal. The only way to keep his obsession at bay is to feed him cookies and sneak in salads. And please don't make him fruitcake cookies. I hate fruitcake cookies. Absolutely no fruitcake in any form. Please, no.

Does Santa share his cookies with you?
Oh, does he! Do you really think those bags are filled with toys? As quickly as he's emptying them, he's filling them up with his favorite cookies to bring home. He knows my favorites, too, and they don't include fruitcake cookies. For the record, my favorite cookie is a good oatmeal raisin. With lots of raisins and heaps of cinnamon. In all seriousness, we set aside some for the elves and ourselves, and donate the rest to a food bank. You should do the same!

What a great idea! So tell us: What are Santa's 10 favorite cookies?
Only 10? He travels the world eating cookies! But if I must, his favorites (in no particular order) are generally the classics:

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies: Make them chewy and chippy. This is definitely his favorite cookie.

  • Oatmeal Raisin Cookies: It's one of his favorites as well as mine (hint, hint). All that fiber does his body good. Believe me, he needs the fiber.

  • Sugar Cookies: A classic. Make them pretty and use fun cookie cutters, but please, no cookies in the shape of reindeer.

  • Anise Cookies: These he first had in Italy a couple centuries ago, and he hasn't stopped yapping about them since. I've never tried them because apparently nowadays they're not easy to find. When he does stumble upon a plateful, he scarfs them all down. Can someone please make a big batch so he'll share?!

  • Jam-Filled Thumbprints: These cookies put him in a jamming mood. You know, his favorite nickname comes from Romania: Mos Craciun. He thinks it makes him sound like a rapper. I think he's lost his marbles.

  • Snickerdoodles: He dips them in eggnog. The stuff out of the carton. What, you think I make my own?

  • Gingerbread Cookies: He likes them chewy and chock full of spices. Go easy on the cloves—they numb the tongue. It happened once! He could still yell "Ho! Ho! Ho!" but saying "Merry Christmas" was another story.

  • Peanut Butter Cookies: Roll them into balls and flatten them with the tines of a fork. He loves them that way.

  • Snowballs: Those buttery, powdered sugar-covered bites are addicting. He'll make a meal of of them. I will too.

  • Linzer Cookies: Jam sandwiched between two buttery cookies and sprinkled with sugar? He'd have it for breakfast every morning if I'd let him.

No fruitcake cookies on the list, huh?
As long as he's married to me, NO.
