MTS and NCTD release first-ever, limited-edition San Diego Comic-Con PRONTO cards

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — There’s a new way to beat the traffic at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Comic-Con PRONTO cards will let attendees ride via public transportation to the convention at a low cost, but that’s not all — anyone using MTS Trolleys and buses to get to the convention can get discounted Comic-Con day passes.

The San Diego Metropolitan System (MTS), North County Transit District (NCTD) and San Diego Comic-Con International have teamed up to release the limited-edition Comic-Con PRONTO card for 2024 San Diego Comic-Con.

Headed to San Diego Comic-Con? Here’s the schedule for the first few days

The convention is expected to draw over 200,000 comic book and movie fans from all over the world. In an effort to get attendees to and from the festival without having to drive through traffic and find parking, NCTD and MTS released the Comic-Con PRONTO card. It costs $2 for the card, and $2.50 each way for an adult, which will take you right to the front doors of the convention center.

The Comic-Con PRONTO card is available for pre-sale on the PRONTO website and over the phone at 619-595-5636 through July 15.

MTS says the remaining Comic-Con PRONTO cards will be available for purchase at the MTS Transit Store in Downtown San Diego, NCTD Customer Service Centers and select Trolley and COASTER station ticket machines between July 23 and July 28.

Not only is the brand new, limited-edition card now available, anyone who uses MTS Trolleys and buses to get to the conference can get discounted Comic-Con day passes.

Also, Comic-Con attendees using COASTER can ride for five days and pay for just three with the COASTER 5-pack.

Riders 18 and under with a registered Youth PRONTO card or app account can also ride free with the Youth Opportunity Pass.

Discounted two, three, four, and five-day SDCC pass options are available in the PRONTO mobile app, on the PRONTO website and over the phone.

Pride, Comic-Con set to draw in big crowds

An important note — MTS says all commemorative card purchases must include the purchase of the Comic-Con day pass and will take five to seven business days to arrive by mail.

MTS Spokesperson Hector Zermeno was live on KUSI Sunday to explain the passes as you can watch in the video above. He also mentioned once Comic-Con is over, you can still use the commemorative limited-edition Comic-Con PRONTO card to ride public transportation year-round in San Diego County.
