Costs have skyrocketed over the years to an all-time high of $7 million expected this year, according to AdMeter. Meanwhile, the very first Super Bowl in the 1960s had ad costs of $37,500 for a 30-second time slot. And for comparison, ads that run during the NFL season during Sunday Night Football are $828,500, according to Statista.
The first time the cost was over a million dollars was in 1995 when it cost $1.15 million for the 30-second time slot. Each year, the cost continues to grow and the biggest jump was between 2021 and 2022 when the cost went from $5.5 million to $6.5 million.

Are Super Bowl Ads Worth It?
A study was done in 2022 on the effect Super Bowl ads have on business sales and growth. It was determined that Super Bowl advertisers may not see a huge boost in sales right away. However, there are immediate increases in online searches that help to spread brand recognition which could bring in later sales.
