In-N-Out is officially making its Northern Colorado debut.

The restaurant's Loveland drive-thru, 1450 Fall River Drive, will open Friday, Nov. 10, the burger chain announced Wednesday.

It will have one drive-thru lane, indoor seating for 84 customers and a covered patio with outdoor seating for 28 customers. It will open daily at 10 a.m. and close at 1 a.m., except for Fridays and Saturdays when it closes at 1:30 a.m.

The road to Northern Colorado's first In-N-Out

This In-N-Out is a long time coming for the Sweetheart City. In-N-Out officials first met with Fort Collins officials back in October 2019 to discuss plans for a 3,832-square-foot restaurant at 1700 S. College Ave. — a skinny Midtown business strip that's now home to Newk's Eatery and Dave's Hot Chicken.

After abandoning those plans, In-N-Out turned its eyes to Loveland, where it bought the former Mimi's Cafe building at 1450 Fall River Drive in February, according to property records.

Preparing for In-N-Out traffic

The city of Loveland confirmed In-N-Out had received its certificate of occupancy Wednesday morning.

The city also released tips for navigating traffic ahead of the restaurant's impending opening. City staff has been anticipating In-N-Out-related traffic congestion since earlier this year and will be monitoring and adjusting its traffic plan accordingly, per a news release.

Traffic tips are:

  • If you're planning to use the drive-thru, don't take Rocky Mountain Avenue or Fall River Drive, as cars will be rerouted. Instead, take Hahns Peak Drive from U.S. Highway 34 (whether traveling east or west) to get in line.

  • If you're dining inside, park in In-N-Out's parking lot or in parking lots across from the restaurant.

  • Look for flaggers and temporary signage that will be in place to direct In-N-Out traffic in the restaurant's first weeks in business.

While it's the first Northern Colorado In-N-Out, it likely won't be the last

In-N-Out has already reportedly set its eyes on another Northern Colorado community.

The company filed a conceptual plan with Timnath's planning department in late May, with plans for a parcel at the northeast corner of Interstate 25 Frontage Road along Weitzel Street in the Ladera subdivision.

According to planning documents, In-N-Out hopes to develop a 3,860-square-foot building with drive-thru and 1,440 square feet of outdoor patio seating to accommodate 134 customers.
