It seems as if everyone has an opinion on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step back from their senior positions in the royal family—but few people know what's really happening behind closed doors. Last night though, the Sussexes' close friend polo player Nacho Figueras offered some insight into what Harry has been going through these past few weeks.

"He's being a father," Figueras said during ABC's new special Royal Divide: Harry, Meghan, and the Crown. "This is a guy who is trying to protect his cub and his lioness from whatever it takes."

Figueras also revealed that he had recently been in touch with Harry. "I spoke to Harry a few days ago," Nacho said. "He has suffered a lot from all of the things that have happened to him. He suffers a lot from people judging him."

The Sussexes announced plans to radically change their roles in the royal family at the beginning of the month and have since given up their public funding and use of their HRH titles in exchange for the freedom to pursue projects in the private sector.

While Meghan has yet to personally address the news outside a series of official statements, Prince Harry recently spoke candidly about their decision at a dinner benefitting his charity, Sentebale.

"The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back, is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option," Harry said.

"I’ve accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am. But I hope that helps you understand what it had to come to, that I would step my family back from all I have ever known, to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life."
