Naomi Biden shares what was awkward about planning a wedding at the White House: 'It’s hard to ask people for their Social Security number with their RSVP'

Days after Naomi Biden wed Peter Neal at the White House, the granddaughter of President Joe Biden is chatting about her special celebration in a new exclusive interview with Vogue.

Naomi, the 28-year-old daughter of Hunter Biden and his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, married Neal, 25, in front of 250 family members and friends on the South Lawn of the White House. While the wedding had a very presidential location, Naomi, who wore a long-sleeved lace Ralph Lauren gown for the occasion, told the magazine that she had always planned to have her wedding at a relative’s home, noting that her close-knit relationship with grandparents President Biden and first lady Jill Biden “hasn’t changed much” in recent years.

“We’re so close to our families, so we always knew we’d get married in someone’s backyard,” Naomi, a lawyer in Washington, D.C., shared in the online story, which will appear in the Jan/Feb print issue of the magazine. “I think if my pop weren’t president, it would probably be their house in Wilmington or Peter’s family’s backyard in Jackson [Wyoming].”

There were unique challenges to the day as well, said Naomi. “It’s hard to ask people for their Social Security number with their RSVP,” she explained.

The attorney also shared that her grandma gave her important advice for planning her big day. “She has really stressed to me that every time I get anxious about wedding stuff to take a breath and remember that it’s just a day about Peter and me and being around the people we love,” she said. “She’s taught me so much about being independent and self-sufficient. But that doesn’t mean you can’t also be a selfless and fiercely loyal partner.”

Naomi revealed that Neal, who is an associate at Georgetown Law's Center on National Security, popped the question in a September 21, 2021 Instagram post. Alongside a photo of her and Neal, in which she is flashing her new diamond ring, she wrote, “Forever.”

The Columbia Law School grad revealed that she would be tying the knot on the South Lawn — a first for White House weddings — back in July.

"Sooo not sure how best to update but was supposed to do so weeks ago…but we have finally figured out where the ceremony will be…and much to the relief of secret service and with the dogs' endorsement…we'll be getting married on the South Lawn!" Naomi tweeted at the time. "Couldn't be more excited."
