The Napa Valley Wine Train Is Once Again Turning Into a Special Tequila Train
Summer is always good with a margarita in your hand, and the Napa Valley Wine Train has an even better way to enjoy some sunshine and tequila.
For the second year in a row, the Napa Valley Wine Train is offering its Tequila Train experience, which lets you sip on some of the best tequila on a scenic train ride through California’s beautiful wine country.
The Tequila Train is usually offered on Cinco de Mayo, but it’s taking on passengers again in honor of National Tequila Day on July 24 as well. On this two-hour tour on a vintage train through some of Napa’s most gorgeous vineyards and towns, passengers will enjoy traditional Mexican appetizers by the wine train’s executive chef, Donald Young, and tequila from Casa Dragones, an independent small batch producer from Jalisco, Mexico.
“We’re excited to add a more interactive feature to this celebratory journey and hope to have the local community and visitors from all over embark on a journey that marries Napa’s love of food and exquisite tastings,” Scott Goldie, Napa Valley Wine Train’s co-CEO, said in a statement.
Not only will guests be able to learn about the history and craft of making delicious sipping tequila from the Casa Dragones team, but they will also be able to try some of Casa Dragones’ highest-end Joven Tequila (at an extra $30 per person). At the end of the trip, guests are treated to a Casa Dragones Blanco shot and some live Latin music.
In addition to being a sumptuous summer experience in its own right, this trip also has the stamp of approval from Oprah herself, who once plugged Casa Dragones as one of her Favorite Things.
“I've sampled tequilas all over the world, but Casa Dragones is still my go-to; Blanco is delightful mixed into cocktails, but the one I love for sipping on its own is Joven,” she said in 2017.
Throughout the 36-mile-trip, passengers will see everything from downtown Napa to St. Helena and the quaint towns of Oak Knoll, Yountville, Oakville, and Rutherford.
If you're interested in taking the trip, you'll want to book soon. Tickets are currently on sale starting at $200 per person.
