National Donut Day in Delaware: How to get free donuts & unique flavors like mango

The sweetest day this weekend is National Donut Day on Friday, June 7.

National Doughnut Day (or National Donut Day) is held every first Friday of June in honor of the Salvation Army's "Donut Lassies," a group of women who were sent to France to establish bases near the front lines in 1917. The presence of the Lassies and the sweet treats they made helped to boost morale for soldiers in World War I, per the Salvation Army.

We found several locations in Delaware where folks can commemorate and salute the "Donut Lassies" on this sugary holiday, one doughnut bite at a time.
