The natural hairstyles at the 'Black Panther' premiere were fit for African royalty
The dress code for the Black Panther world premiere in Los Angeles called for “royal attire.” Actors from the highly anticipated Marvel film and celebrity attendees went above and beyond this formal request, adorning themselves in traditional African prints, majestic hues, and lavish jewelry. But it was the natural hairstyles that really rounded out these regal red-carpet looks.
Lupita Nyong’o, who portrays Wakandan spy Nakia, donned a towering Fulani-inspired topknot and a thin silver headband. Queen Mother Ramonda … er, we mean, Angela Bassett was an absolute vision with her tresses slicked down at the crown and teased in the back, flowing onto her dandelion-fringed jumpsuit. Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther himself, represented for the fellas with a textured tapered cut that accentuated his chiseled facial features and beard.
