NCIS has been a primetime mainstay since 2003. Like its fellow crime procedurals, CSI and Law & Order, it was only a matter of time before the show launched a spinoff. Fast forward to 2021 and NCIS: Hawaii premiered, instantly garnering fan support for the beautiful set locations, captivating crime scenarios, and Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) the Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor. As much as fans love Jane, however, many original NCIS viewers also remain diehard Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) fans.

It’s for this exact reason that fans are swooning over the latest NCIS news: a crossover event featuring Jane, Nick, and Jessica in Hawaii. Ever since Wilmer first posted the news on his Instagram at the start of January, fans have been flocking to his (and Vanessa and Katrina’s) social media. While not much is known about the crossover, other than the fact that it will air in late March, Vanessa did treat fans to a fun throwback photo in honor of the upcoming episode.

“#TRLTuesday with these babies! Before Tennant & Torres it’s was VW in NYC,” she captioned a two-image carousel on Instagram with the hashtag #2006. Back then, Vanessa was best known for her role in the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, while Wilmer was loved around the world as Fez from That 70’s Show.

“This has me even more excited for the NCIS/NCIS: Hawaii crossover,” one fan commented on Vanessa’s post.

“Oh my gosh that is so cool! You both look the same,” another fan exclaimed.

Although the photos are from 16 years ago, fans can’t get over how Vanessa and Wilmer seemingly haven’t aged — and how long they’ve been friends. Of course, Wilmer doesn’t consider Vanessa just a friend; he thinks of her as family.

“I’m sharing the screen with my sister Vanessa Lachey,” he said in a clip posted to his Instagram account. “She is one of my favorite people and I am very, very proud to be here to support the next chapter of not only her life but this show. The extension of our NCIS family.”
