NE Ohio-based ice cream named best in Ohio: List
CLEVELAND (WJW) – With dangerously hot temperatures this week, plenty of Ohioans are trying to cool off with a treat at their local ice cream parlor.
According to a recent list compiled by Reader’s Digest, a Northeast Ohio-based ice cream chain is the best in the state.
Reader’s Digest named their picks for the best ice cream places across the country, highlighting some like the slow-churned McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams in Santa Barbara, California and the more than 1,000 flavors at Amy’s Ice Creams in Texas.

When it comes to the Buckeye State, Reader’s Digest chose Mitchell’s Ice Cream, originating in Westlake, as the best.
Even if you haven’t tried it, anyone who passes through Ohio City in the summer has probably seen the long lines leading outside the popular ice cream spot on W. 25th Street.
According to Reader’s Digest, “For some local Buckeye flavor, Mitchell’s is the place to go, and you can even do a tour to find out exactly how they make the best ice cream in Ohio.”

“We take pleasure and pride in contributing to our Northeast Ohio communities and to the lives of Mitchells’ employees,” founders Pete and Mike Mitchell say on the company’s website.
Mitchell’s, which has nine locations in the area, first opened in 1999. Learn more about the local ice cream chain and its flavors here.
