What you need to know about the star-studded Tom Ford fashion show
Paris Jackson drama might have been the center of attention outside of the Tom Ford show on Wednesday night in New York, but inside was a different story.
Many celebrities convened to watch the debut of the designer’s Spring 2019 ready-to-wear collection, including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Henry Golding, and Cardi B. Everyone was clad in sleek cocktail party attire, which embodied Ford’s signature old Hollywood style.
Hailee Steinfeld, Russell Westbrook, and Pom Klementieff were on hand as well.
They all sat front row alongside Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and watched as the industry’s top models strutted by on the catwalk in Ford’s new designs. Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, and Joan Smalls were among the A-list models to walk in the show at New York’s Park Avenue Armory Wednesday evening.
Ford’s Spring 2019 collection showcased a series of brocade blazers, metallic sheen suiting, tuxedos, velvet corsets, exotic leather jackets, lace skirts, and leopard print moto jackets. The color palette drifted between harsh blacks and soft nudes, lavender, and blush pinks. Models, both male and female, wore head scarves that complemented each of their looks. Ford’s signature oversize eyewear was incorporated throughout the collection. Forget tiny sunglasses, next season is all about oversize, ’80s-style eyewear. Hadid closed out the show in a whimsical black sheer cape dress.
