Netflix’s New #2 Show Is a Must-Watch Anthology Series Starring Amanda Peet & Christian Slater
Grab the popcorn, ladies and gents, because Dirty John is making a well-deserved comeback.
Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story originally premiered on USA last year, but since becoming available to watch on Netflix, it’s already claimed the number two spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched shows. (It’s currently ranked behind Lucifer and ahead of Cocomelon, Ragnarok, The Kominsky Method and Who Killed Sara?)
If the title sounds familiar, it’s probably because The Betty Broderick Story doubles as Dirty John’s second season. Unlike the anthology show’s first installment, which documents the fast-moving relationship between Debra (Connie Britton) and John (Eric Bana), the new episodes focus on an entirely different—albeit true—story.
This time, it’s all about Betty Broderick (played by Amanda Peet) and the events that led to her shooting and killing her ex-husband, Dan (Christian Slater), and his new wife in November 1989. Although she’s been locked up since 1991, the series documents the years of infidelity, legal battles and arguments that preceded the murders.
In addition to Peet and Slater, Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story also stars Tiera Skovbye and Chris Mason, who play the younger versions of Betty and Dan. Other cast members include Rachel Keller (Linda), Anna Jacoby-Heron (Jenny), Lily Donoghue (Tracy), Cameron Crovetti (Ryan), Miles Emmons (Anthony), Holley Fain (Evelyn), Cliff Chamberlain (Rich), Joelle Carter (Yvonne Newsome), Doug Savant (Martin), Jesse Mackey (Detective Sheehan) and Jules Wilcox (Kelsey).
Oh, and did we mention that both Dirty John seasons are now streaming on Netflix? All day marathon, here we come.
