Netflix Shares a Christmas Message From Lady Whistledown
Dearest readers, Netflix has a gift for you. Today, on the anniversary of the premiere of the first season of Bridgerton, the streaming giant confirms that the Regency-set romance will return for its sophomore season on March 25, 2022.
In a new video released today, members of the cast of Bridgerton, including newcomers Simone Ashley, who will play Kate Sharma, and Charithra Chandran, who will play her younger sister Edwina, read the latest dispatch from Lady Whistledown herself.
"Happy anniversary to our buzzy ton. It is customary for a first anniversary to gift paper, dear readers. I do hope you find this one informative. Bridgerton returns March 25th," reads the note.
The news of the premiere date comes as a surprise to some of the actors. "I actually didn't know that," says Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton in the series, says laughing.
Just recently, executive producer Shonda Rhimes revealed that they were in the middle of editing the season, which will focus on Anthony Bridgerton's love story. She also spoke about the disappointing news that actor Regé-Jean Page will not return for the show's second chapter.
“Everybody was so upset about Regé not coming back as the Duke, and I said early on our goal is that every season, you have a couple that you’re obsessed with, and that you can’t believe that we’re not going to see more of their story next season, because we’re telling a complete love story every season,” Rhimes told Adweek, per Fansided. “And that is the beauty of what Season 2 is. We’re halfway through editing all the episodes, and they’re gorgeous.”
