Netflix's 'The Devil on Trial' Documentary Examines the "Devil Made Me Do It" Case
Netflix has shared the official trailer for its upcoming documentary, The Devil on Trial.
Premiering October 17, The Devil on Trial examines the infamous "Devil Made Me Do It" case — the murder trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson who, after killing his landlord Alan Bono, attempted to use "demonic possession" as a defense. The documentary features firsthand accounts of the events leading up to the murder and alleged devil possession from the people closely tied to this case.
The murder was committed in February 1981 after a drunken and heated argument between Johnson and Bono. The family and paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren suggested that Johnson was under the influence of demons when he stabbed Bono, however a judge ruled that demonic possession could not be proven and is therefore infeasible in a court.
