New (and newish) happy hour food specials at Wilmington-area restaurants
A few local restaurants have well-known deals for bar bites and happy hours. And even more eateries in the Wilmington area have added discounts and specials in recent weeks and months for those looking to stretch their entertainment budgets. Here are a few of them. Happy-hour bites
Junction 421: A popular addition to this Monkey Junction restaurant is the half-priced apps available in the bar area at 5104 S. College Road. Find eight selections like brussels sprouts, fried pimento cheese, lobster and crab wontons, and spinach and artichoke dip. The restaurant is open daily for dinner and for Sunday brunch service.
Origins Food and Drink: This Autumn Hall restaurant from restaurateur Ash Aziz has also recently added a new bar menu. Prices are $7-12 for dishes like the steak slider, daily ceviche, wedge salad, smoked fish dip and mussels marinière. It’s 5-7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday at 102 Autumn Hall Drive in Wilmington.
Prost Biergarten: In addition to daily specials (like a $10 smash burger on Tuesday and beer flights on Wednesday), this restaurant at 115 S. Front St. has a happy hour menu available 4-6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 4-9 p.m. Sunday. Prices range from about $5-10 for items like chicken nachos, sausage sandwiches, salads, sp?tzle mac and cheese, and Flammkuchen flatbread.
Seaworthy Kitchen & Bar: In Carolina Beach, this restaurant now has a happy hour menu available 3-5 p.m., with $3-5 specials, including fish tacos, crab dip and mac and cheese. This is in addition to half-priced specials Monday through Thursdays at 604 N. Lake Park Drive, like half-priced tacos on Tuesday and margaritas on Wednesday.
Other cool restaurant specials
Blue Surf Cafe: The sister restaurant to Blue Surf Arboretum West has recently added dinner service. That comes with a variety of weekly specials after 5 p.m.– two sandwiches and sides for $20 on Tuesday, wine specials and $2 off entrees on Wednesday, $8 breakfast-for-dinner sandwiches and beer specials on Thursday, and $5 kids menu items on Friday. It’s at 250 Racine Drive in Wilmington.
Front Street Brewery: Earlier this year, this popular downtown brewpub started offering an "All Day Bargain Menu" where you can find a selection of eight dishes available for about $10 each. That’s in addition to half-priced appetizers available 3-6 p.m. and whiskey and beer specials. It’s at 9 N. Front St., Wilmington.
Rx Chicken & Oysters: This restaurant has started offering a special on one of their eponymous bites. You can find half-priced oysters from 5 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. There’s also a half-priced wine special on Tuesday. It's at 421 Castle St. in Wilmington.
The Smoke House at Monkey Junction: This location of the Smoke House restaurants is offering a summer lunch special. For $7, you can get a pulled pork sandwich with a side and drink from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5120 College Road in Wilmington.
