What’s Next for Marvel After ‘Avengers: Endgame’? Here’s Everything We Know

Updated

Over the last 11 years, the Marvel Universe has brought us 21 iconic movies. And now that Avengers: Endgame is days away from hitting theaters, we can’t help but wonder what’s next for the MCU.

You see, Marvel is known for breaking its saga into phases, and since Endgame marks the end of the third installment, fans are itching for details on what’s to come. Although the universe has remained tight-lipped about the next chapter, Kevin Feige—president of Marvel Studios—recently revealed that it (probably) won’t include X-Men

“It’ll be a while [before we see the X-Men],” he told io9. “It’s all just beginning. And the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set.”

Feige went on to explain that it will be very different from previous phases, adding, “The slate that we’re building over the next five years [is] not apples to apples. It is two very distinct things and I hope they’ll feel very distinct.”

Unfortunately, the conclusion of phase three will mark the end of several Marvel heroes. Not only is Captain America predicted to die, but Iron Man, Thor and The Hulk are all expected to depart the story line.

Why? The whole purpose of phase four is to shift the focus away from the core heroes, so Marvel can further develop other characters, along with new ones. The five-year plan will likely include Black Widow, The EternalsShang-Chi and Hawkeye, which will star Jeremy Renner.

End of an era? Check.
