NFL Announcer Pokes Fun at Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Dating Rumors With Sly Reference to Her Music During Broadcast
To Kansas City Chiefs fans, Travis Kelce is a superstar player who helped take his team to Super Bowl victory earlier this year. To Swifties, he's her rumored new boo.
When Taylor Swift stopped in Kansas City on the Eras Tour earlier this summer, Kelce figured it'd be the perfect time to shoot his shot at the Grammy-winning pop star. Back in July, he opened up about the experience on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles. He tried to give Swift a bracelet with his number on it, but she spurned his request.
"I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings. So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her," Kelce admitted. "She doesn’t meet anybody or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal. But it was an unbelievable show."
Still, Swift has seemingly been making time for the Chiefs tight end, as they've been spotted spending time together in recent weeks. When Kelce scored a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Sunday, NFL announcer Ian Eagle took the opportunity to make a Swift-related pun. "Touchdown, Travis Kelce! Kelce finds a blank space for the score!" he said, nodding to Swift's 2014 hit single "Blank Space."

It's not the first time someone has snuck in some T-Swift references when talking about Kelce. Rich Eisen has done it on The Rich Eisen Show, sneaking in a few song-related jokes. "Even though that bone bruise and the injury one would think is delicate, he's been able to shake it off," Eisen said of Kelce—a wink-wink-nudge-nudge to Swift's songs "Delicate" and "Shake It Off." Eisen has also referenced songs like "All Too Well" and "Anti-Hero" on the air.
It might only be a matter of time before Kelce finds himself the subject of Swift's next big hit.
