Nick Jonas and His Family Arrive in India to Start Pre-Wedding Events With Priyanka Chopra's Family
And so it begins: Nick Jonas and his parents Denise and Kevin Jonas Sr. arrived at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport last night ahead of Nick and Priyanka Chopra's engagement party. Nick's brothers Kevin, Joe, and Frankie were also there but weren't photographed, per People.
This will be the first time that Nick's family meets Priyanka's family. Nick's parents were seen carrying a Tiffany & Co. bag, presumably a gift for Priyanka's parents. It suggests that the two are indeed having a formal engagement ceremony.
As E! pointed out earlier this week, an engagement ceremony is an Indian pre-wedding tradition in which the bride- and groom-to-be formally exchange rings in front of their families, and the families exchange gifts.
A source told E! that this weekend's party really kicks off the two's pre-wedding rituals-and that they plan to marry quick. "It's a tradition for them to meet before the wedding and Priyanka's family insisted on hosting the Jonas family in their country," the source said. "Priyanka wants everything to be traditional to respect her family's values, and definitely an Indian wedding. Priyanka and Nick are excited for everyone to meet and to celebrate. Everything is very secretive but guests are expected to head there starting tomorrow. All of the plans are moving quickly and Priyanka and Nick do not want to have a long engagement."
