Nick Proposed to Vanessa with Another Man's Ring
After four chances at finding love on national TV, Nick Viall found the one in Vanessa Grimaldi on the season finale of The Bachelor this week - and proposed to her with a gigantic diamond ring by resident Bachelor Nation jeweler Neil Lane. Featuring a 3.75-carat round-cut diamond surrounded by over 150 smaller diamonds, the gorgeous ring was just what Nick had in mind when deciding what to give his beloved, and she couldn't have been happier with it.
But as one eagle-eyed fan noticed in an Instagram post on Wednesday afternoon, Nick's proposal to Vanessa wasn't the first time that this particular Neil Lane ring made an appearance in Bachelor Nation. In fact, the ring made its television debut just months earlier, on the last season of The Bachelorette.

As Claudia Oshry points out in her post, the ring Nick chose for Vanessa is the exact same one that Robby Hayes chose for JoJo Fletcher, before the latter turned him down in favor of Jordan Rodgers. People later confirmed this was the case, and that Nick had committed a bit of a Bachelor Nation no-no. But the designer behind the franchise's rings was quick to defend Nick over the faux pas.
“I bring six rings and over the years, over the 9 years, some are the same, some have changed settings or are re-designed, and some are totally new,” Lane told People. “The most important thing is for a ring to speak to the particular man and to the woman he is in love with. If a ring doesn’t speak to one person, then it wasn’t meant to be. If that particular ring wasn’t meant to find a home with JoJo, but rather spoke to Nick and Vanessa, then that’s the way it should be. It’s found its home.”
Clearly, Vanessa ain't complaining and the two couldn't be happier - which is obviously what matters most of all.
