Nickelodeon Star Daniella Monet Is Engaged! Get the Details on Her Fiancé’s Romantic Proposal

We’ve seen some pretty romantic engagement announcements recently, from Chanel Iman’s rooftop proposal to this Netflix-orchestrated engagement involving Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant. And now we can add Daniella Monet’s happily-ever-after to the list, too, as her boyfriend of more than six years asked her to marry him on Christmas day in an incredibly sweet way that totally overwhelmed his future bride.

The 28-year-old actress — who starred alongside Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande on Victorious and now hosts Nickelodeon’s Paradise Run competition series — spoke with People about the big surprise. “We woke up Christmas morning, and we were getting ready for the day, and Andrew said we should take a family picture with the two dogs,” she explained. And while that sounds super sweet, it turns out that he was just looking for a way to get her all glammed up for the big moment.

“So I got my hair and makeup ready and got dressed and I thought, ‘Oh, I’ll make a little vlog out of it,'” she told People. “So I had my camera going for the whole time, and after we were done opening presents, he blindfolded me and walked me over to the kitchen sink, where there’s a beautiful tree outside of the window.”

On Instagram, she added, “I thought I was going to open my eyes and see our bikes parked on the driveway. I was wrong. #engaged

She told People she was confused, because she didn’t see anything special when he first took off the blindfold. But then she realized something. “Eventually I noticed there was a bow at the bottom of the tree, when I peeked over,” she recalled. “And then I finally saw that there was ‘Marry Me’ carved into the tree with a heart with an arrow going through it.”

While some people might have started squealing with glee at this point, Monet had a very different reaction. “My heart sunk, my stomach dropped, everything just felt numb, and I lost it. I just was hysterical,” she told the mag. “I kept saying ‘I don’t want to turn around, I don’t want to turn around,’ because I was so nervous. I knew he was going to be on one knee.”

She was right, of course. “I turned around, he was on one knee, he was crying, I was crying, I grabbed his hand and he said, ‘Will you marry me?’ And my exact words were, ‘Yeah, ew, weird.'”

We’re assuming she means that in a good way, though. “I’m so happy, and I think I cried for a solid three hours,” she told People.

Congratulations to the happy (and adorably emotional) couple!
