This New Nicolas Cage Netflix Show Is NSFW
Have you ever wondered where the most popular derogatory terms—like “f***” and “sh**”—originated? Well, Nicolas Cage is teaming up with Netflix to answer all your burning questions.
The National Treasure star, 56, is set to host an all-new series, titled History of Swear Words. The Netflix show is exactly what it sounds like: Cage sitting in a Godfather-esque chair as he teaches viewers about where each term came from. Each episode explores a different word—like “p****,” which is discussed in the teaser trailer.
In the clip, Cage offers an over-the-top explanation, saying, “It is a thing of great wonder and mystery, quivering with complexity, strength and resilience. However, also, buried within a delicate femininity. And—dare I even say—naughtiness.”
History of Swear Words doesn’t just show Cage rambling off facts. It will also feature appearances by multiple guest stars, including Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Joel Kim Booster, DeRay Davis, Open Mike Eagle, Nikki Glaser, Patti Harrison, London Hughes, Jim Jefferies, Zainab Johnson, Baron Vaughn, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Cage will also consult with several experts, including professors, film critics and lexicographers.
According to the official description, the show is “a loud and proudly profane series that explores the origins, pop-culture usage, science and cultural impact of curse words.”
History of Swear Words will premiere on Tuesday, January 5, on Netflix, so mark your calendars (if you dare).
