Nicolas Ghesquière closed out fashion week with a retro-futuristic collection for Louis Vuitton that focused on strong silhouettes (like oversized, rounded sleeves), sharp suiting, and '80s Memphis Group art-inspired prints. The themes recall some of Ghesquière's most memorable work at Balenciaga, which often was inspired by futurism and Star Wars. The show space, a sleek, plastic encased raised runway turned at sharp angles inside the courtyard of the Louvre. The runway was a fitting match for the futuristic fashion, in brilliant juxtaposition with its ancient surroundings. The effect mirrored I.M. Pei's famed glass pyramid, which glowed a few feet away.
Guess who's back?
