New noshes coming to Flavors of Oklahoma

Jul. 11—Several new tastes are coming to this year's Flavors of Oklahoma, said Jaime Stout, assistant director of Women in Safe Home.

The fourth annual Flavors of Oklahoma, which features tasty bites from area eateries and organizations, will be 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Muskogee Civic Center. Several are new participants.

Stout said this will mark the first Flavors for Watson's Meat Market, Mama Tig's Pizza and Sugar Llamas Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt.

Returning participants include Golden Corral, Mahylon's, Mattie Jane's on Main, Buffalo Wild Wings and Gino's, she said. Beverage providers include Pecan Creek, Tidewater and Oke Ozark wineries.

The musical trio Sister Stone will provide entertainment.

There also will be a silent auction with lots of items, Stout said.

"This is an opportunity for people to come out and just enjoy a nice evening with their friends and enjoy things Muskogee has to offer," Stout said.

Now in its fourth year, Flavors of Oklahoma benefits Women in Safe Home, WISH. The organization seeks to provide a safe place for victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault and stalking as they make plans and arrangements to recover from trauma and begin new lives.

Stout said WISH raised nearly $33,000 at the 2023 event.

"And it looks like we'll be around that same mark this year, which should help with funding cuts we received at the federal level," she said, adding that the Victims of Crime Act has provided federal funds to help pay shelter staff.

Stout said the shelter has six staff members, and recently was awarded City of Muskogee Foundation grants to hire two more.

Flavors of Oklahoma tickets are $30 at the door or $20 in advance.

"People can reach out to any of our board members on Facebook, or buy them on Hey Girlie downtown," Stout said. "There is a link on our Facebook page."
