Ohio Hills Folk Festival wraps up another year

QUAKER CITY — The 120th Ohio Hills Folk Festival took place last weekend, bringing crowds, music and folk art to the small village.

Four days of events kept the small community humming. Wednesday kicked off a kiddie parade and bingo, while Thursday saw events like the Columbus Zoo kids' show and live music from Carson Clouse.

On Friday attendees checked out the mile-long parade as kids filled bags with candy, can cozies and even Conn's potato chips. Monroe Central, Barnesville and Buckeye Trail marching bands all participated in the parade, along with fire and EMS vehicles from Quaker City, Antrim, Somerton, Summerfield, Barnesville and Pleasant City. Numerous businesses also rode in the parade, including Joe's Tire, 360 Burger, Road Warriors Towing, Conn's Potato Chips and elected officials from Guernsey County.

While no horses relieved themselves on a square for horse poop bingo, winners were randomly drawn with Jason Rich bringing home the top prize. The tractor show and frog jumping contest rounded out the day.
