Ohio State Fair's new foods for 2024 include pickle lemonade, gummy corndogs and more
The list of new foods available at this year's Ohio State Fair is out. As usual, it's a menu that ranges from heavenly sounding to, "Huh????!"
Let's start with the latter, which are always more interesting:
Pickle lemonade: Westerville-based Cheryl's Cookies recently released a dill-pickle line with a pickle buttercream. Fair vendor Miller & Co. Concessions will offer pickle lemonade.
Gummy corn dog: The "Gummy Bear Guy" will have corn dog-shaped — and flavored, we assume — gummy candies. Sticking with the trend, he'll also have gummy pickles.
Espresso deviled eggs: The Ohio Poultry Association strikes again with some out-there takes on the summertime staple planned at its "Devilishly Good" stand. Espresso might not top last year's cotton-candy deviled eggs, but one final featured flavor has yet to be unveiled. Others on the 2024 menu are maple-bacon crunch, buffalo chicken, hot dog and, there it is again, dill pickle.
The Ohio State Fair runs from July 24 through Aug. 4 at the fairgrounds at 717 E. 17th Ave. on Columbus' North Side.

Among items on the less-weird side are this year's latest fried-food offering. "Bombz," from a vendor called "Fork'et Me Not," are puff pastries filled with either buffalo chicken, Philly steak or cheeseburger and deep-fried.

For the second year, Schmidt’s of German Village will debut a fair-only flavor. This year's cotton-candy cream puff will be available only at the fair. Last year's flavor, lemon shake-up, is available at the German Village restaurant throughout July.
Hickory Tree Turkey BBQ will offer a Thanksgiving-stuffed turkey leg. It's stuffed with stuffing, of course, as well as mashed potatoes and other holiday favorites.
Velvet Ice Cream's state-fair flavor is caramel-popcorn ice cream. It will be offered by the American Dairy Association and the Ohio Dairy Producers Association.
