Out with the old: Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall is replacing and selling its seats

MUNHALL ― If hard wooden seats could talk, the ones at Carnegie Music Hall of Homestead could share quite a few stories.

Those relentlessly rigid seats have accommodated concertgoers cheering on stars like Cyndi Lauper, Toto, Jethro Tull, Dave Chappelle, Wayne Newton, William Shatner, Richard Marx, Amy Grant, Kenny G, Blue Oyster Cult, Graham Nash and hometown actor-singer Jeff Goldblum.

Now you can buy, take home and own a few of those seats via a public sale this weekend.

Show up in the Munhall venue's parking lot between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. June 22-23 if you want to snag a pair of those seats for $50, or four for $100. Payments must be cash only.

"They are conversation starters that will leave your friends in awe," says the Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall Facebook page, "and make an incredible addition to your office, home theater, game room or even your back porch."

The good news for anyone who's ever sat in those old seats that seemed to be a relic from Andrew Carnegie himself:

"We are making way for the new floor seating being installed this summer," says the Facebook page.
