Olea Fusion Bistro moving to Owensboro

Looks like a new restaurant is coming to Owensboro.

The owners of Olea Fusion Bistro in Henderson announced on Facebook this week that they will be relocating to Owensboro soon.

They said the location will be announced soon.

Fingers, Fork, Knife & Spoon Evansville reported that the owners, Josh Patterson and Luis Flores worked together at Owensboro’s Red Lobster more than 18 years ago.

The restaurant describes itself as offering”a fusion of Greek, Spanish and American food, featuring high-end steaks, fresh fish and as much locally-sourced vegetables as possible.”

? The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has approved $250,000 for Jerry’s Resharp of Central City.

The company, that has been making saws for the lumber and timber industry for more than 20 years, is expanding.

Plans call for hiring 15 people at $21 an hour, including benefits.

? If you have an electric vehicle, it’s still hard to find charging stations in Kentucky.

But the Lane Report said this week that Kentucky has completed its third round of awards to private developers to build an additional 18 federally funded electric vehicle charging stations.

The story said eight developers were selected to build public charging stations along Kentucky’s interstates and parkways.

They are eligible to receive up to $11.8 million in funding through the National Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Formula Program.

The stations will be Bardstown, Bowling Green, Cadiz, Campton, Central City, Crestview Hills, Elizabethtown, Frankfort, Glasgow, Hazard, Louisville, Midway, Morehead, Morgantown, Salyersville and Shepherdsville.

Each station must have at least four charging ports of 150 kilowatts each, be accessible to the public 24 hours a day/seven days a week and work with most EV models.

Amenities such as restrooms and locations to purchase food and beverages are included at station locations, the story said.

This week, a $12.4 million building permit was issued to A&K Construction for construction of a locker room and hitting facility.

That doesn’t include a press box or bleachers.

? In 2022, Eric Belcher bought the 40-year-old Maurice Pools & Spas at 1431 Bosley Road.

Wednesday, he’ll be having the grand opening of the renamed Venture Pools from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The announcement says, “Our new name, Venture Pools, represents our passion for bringing your backyard dreams to life. It’s about embracing the journey of transforming your outdoor space into a personal paradise.”

Reuters reported this week that “Contract signings for U.S. home purchases fell by the most in three years in April and the overall level of activity was the lowest since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, as high interest rates keep a lid on the housing market, the National Association of Realtors said on Thursday.”

? Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, said in an open letter this week that the average price of McDonald’s menu items has grown about 40% since 2019.

That was to rebut claims on social media that the chain had increased prices by more than 100%.

Erlinger said the average price of a Big Mac meal today is $9.29, up 27% from $7.29 in 2019.

The price for a 10-piece McNuggets meal is up 28% over the same period, and the price of medium French fries increased 44%.
