Sleep deprivation is par for the course when you have a newborn at home — but that doesn’t mean moms won’t do anything for a little extra shut-eye. Olivia Munn and husband John Mulaney are going through it right now with their newborn daughter Méi, who was born via surrogate last month. Munn shared a sneak peek into her nighttime routine with her baby, and it includes something every mom has done a time or two (or a thousand).

The Newsroom alum shared a black-and-white surveillance video taken from her baby monitor. In the clip, Méi is expertly swaddled up to keep her arms secure while she snoozes in a bassinet, a pacifier on one side of her. But although she looks peaceful at first glance, she’s actually not quite asleep yet. The beginning of the clip has Munn sitting on the floor, reaching forward to gently pat her daughter’s belly to lure her to sleep. Méi wiggles, and Munn takes a break to lift her arm and twirl her wrist around to stretch it out. It’s clear she’s been doing this for a while. Poor mama!

After a few wrist rotations, Munn is back to the patting. She leans forward to check if the baby is asleep as she continues to pat. Every time she stops (even for one second!), Méi moves around again. Munn leans back down to hide from the baby — maybe if she doesn’t see her she won’t cry? — and continues her patting. I’m exhausted just watching this video.

“The second slide ?? My son is now 17, but it brought me right back to when he was a baby and wouldn’t sleep unless he could feel me right there … such an exhausting, beautiful time. The years went so fast ????” one mom commented.

“Never have related to anything more than that Nanit [baby monitor] clip,” another said. Someone else said, “Oh yeah I felt that wrist stretch ??

On her Instagram story, Munn explained more about the adorable video. “John screen recorded this late night moment of patting Méi to sleep,” she wrote. “I think I check to see if she’s breathing 23 out of the 24 hours of the day.” Relatable!

The Hit-Monkey star also shared more moments with Méi, including a picture of Munn hanging out on the couch with her daughter, a picture of Méi giving a big yawn to the camera, and a picture of Méi cuddling on her mom’s lap while her 2-year-old son Malcolm plays next to her. A photo of Mulaney kissing his daughter and a picture of Malcolm touching Méi’s head will absolutely melt your heart! She captioned the post, “The first month of Méi ??”

Mulaney responded, “What a little life ??” The Home Edit’s Clea Shearer wrote, “I love her!!!!” Paris Hilton commented, “????????” and The Office’s Jenna Fischer commented, “New baby bliss!”

Last week, Munn opened up about the difficulties of parenting a baby and a toddler at the same time. A picture of her staring blankly in the camera was “proof” that she “made it through last night” with both kids, she wrote on her Instagram story, per PEOPLE.

Munn added, “Having a toddler and a newborn at the same time is not for the faint of heart.”
