Olivia Munn shuts down Justin Theroux romance rumors
Olivia Munn is not about to let tabloids speculate about her love life, especially when those tabloids speculate she is dating a friend’s ex. Late Friday night, the X-Men and Newsroom actor shared a series of Instagram posts shedding light on a purported planned story by In Touch magazine that claims she is romantically involved with her friend Jennifer Aniston‘s soon-to-be ex-husband, Leftovers star Justin Theroux.
She opened by explaining that a text had come in from her publicist.
She then shared the back and forth, which showed her publicist telling her that sources were telling In Touch that she and Theroux are “growing close and heading towards romance.” To which she replied, naturally, “Oh my god. That is so stupid.”
Her publicist explained he would try to stop the story, but they would “probably run with it anyway.”
Munn then shared that she does not date friends’ exes, and that the story is “100 million percent not true.” In the age of social media, it’s becoming more and more common for stars to dispute tabloid stories on their accounts.
In fact, this is not the first time Munn has taken to Instagram to dispute dating rumors. In January, she used the social media app to deny reports that she was dating Chris Pratt and shared text messages with his ex-wife, Anna Faris. She wrote, writing, “1. Not every woman is scorned and upset after a breakup. 2. Not every woman is ‘furious’ at another woman for dating her ex. 3. So even if I was dating @prattprattpratt, some tabloids got me and @annafaris all wrong. 4. Women respect and love each other a lot more than some people like to think. 5. Chris and I would have a horrible celebrity name: Crolivia, Prunn, Chrisivia, Olipratt.”
“Hey there!” she texted Faris. “Sooo… I would never respond to random tabloid stories, but since we know each other I wanted to reach out to you personally to tell you the story about me and Chris dating has 0% truth. I’m sure you already know it’s not true, or maybe didn’t care either way, but I just wanted to reach out personally to tell you it’s not true. Anyway, I hope you had an amazing holiday and an even better 2018.”
She also shared the response, “Hi!!!! Oh my god-this town is so f—king crazy-you are so sweet to text-I love you-having said that if you were my new sister in law I would be thrilled! –let’s please catch up soon.”
Munn concluded her latest series of posts with a sweet photo showing her and Aniston posing together at the premiere for Office Christmas Party, a comedy the two friends co-starred in back in 2016.
