Olivia Newton-John's Daughter Shares the Icon's Final Words to Her
Chloe Lattanzi gave her first TV interview since her mother's death and opened up about the icon's final days.
Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi shared the final words her mother said to her.
Giving her first TV interview since the icon's death, Lattanzi sat down alongside her stepfather John Easterling with Hota Kotb on The Today Show. “The last words she could say to me were ‘My sunshine,’” Lattanzi told Kotb.
“Right before she lost the ability to speak, she was making jokes,” she added.
Lattanzi also opened up about coping with her mother’s death, saying the love Newton-John’s fans felt for the late star was a “life raft.”
“It has felt like a big hug from the universe and I’m very grateful for all of the people who reached out to us and extended their heart and their connection,” she said.
After the interview, Kotb shared the touching story of how Easterling and Newton-John met with her Today Show co-hosts.
“He said he went to a concert of Olivia Newton-John and he’s all about healing, John is, and he does some work in the Amazon [rainforest]. He said he watched her sing and he felt the healing feeling that he gets when he’s in the Amazon,” Kotb explained.
“So, the next morning, he said he was at the pool at the hotel and he saw her, and he said, ‘Can I ask you a question?’ And she said ‘Sure.’ He said, ‘I was at your concert. Will you go to the Amazon with me? Because there’s a real healing feeling there.’ And he goes [to Kotb], ‘She looked at me 10 seconds later and said yes.’”
The couple went on to be together for 15 years.
