Olivia Palermo shares her beauty secrets and why a pretty hairstyle is her favourite accessory
Reality star. Fashion icon. Businesswoman. And now, beauty muse. So what’s Olivia’s secret? Hers is a very modern fairy tale.
Having launched her career as a cast member on MTV’s reality-drama The City, Olivia Palermo has gone on to become a one-woman fashion powerhouse, with five million Instagram followers and countless designer collaborations to prove it. And now? She has set her sights firmly on the beauty world, becoming one of the faces of Bobbi Brown. It’s fair to say that if anyone knows about looking good, it’s Olivia. We’re all ears…
Back to basics
‘I always start my day with a Tracy Anderson online fitness class to sweat out all my toxins. I try to really look after my skin, so after showering I moisturise with Dr Dennis Gross C+Collagen Deep Cream, £77 – it helps to smoothe and hydrate my complexion.’
Make-up Masterclass
‘My go-to look is always a classic, defined eye, glowing skin and a good blow-dry. I start with my brows – they define and set your face. I use a pencil to add definition and an eyebrow brush to groom my natural shape. When it comes to foundation, I look for something that will give me a glow without looking cakey. I love Bobbi Brown’s new Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF15 £31, – it’s lightweight but still conceals as much you want it to.
I use a brush to apply, as you can swipe for sheer coverage (great for daytime) or stipple for a stronger, evening look. Make sure you have a powder that works with your foundation. I have one in my purse for big events so I can always do a quick touch-up. I love the True Match Powder by L’Oréal Paris, £6.99.
My desert island beauty product is Vaseline £2.09.
You can use it in so many ways: to set your brows, define your lashes or to protect your lips.
For the evening, I love a red lip. It’s classic and beautiful. My favourite is the Luxe Lip Color in Parisian Red by Bobbi Brown, £27.’
Crowning Glory
‘Generally, I like polished hair and make-up, but sometimes it’s fun to be experimental for events. I always focus on one feature at a time, though – whether that be my hair, a smoky eye or bold lip. When I’m in London I love to be a bit adventurous with my hair. I see Jordan Garrett of Hershesons – he provides me with lots of inspiration. One of my favourite go-to styles is a braid. There are so many variations and you can switch up your texture and style: I either opt for a soft romantic style or a messier look to make a statement. I treat my hairstyles like an accessory – they are just as impactful as a bold earring or lip.’
