Olivia Wilde recently weighed in on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's budding romance—and she found herself in hot water with Swifties as a result.

It all started on Oct. 6 when the Don't Worry Darling director took to her Instagram Story to repost a tweet from Dutch actress Katja Herbers.

"I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist," the message read.

After facing the wrath of Swifties on social media, Wilde has since set the record straight about the meaning of her post.

"I meant no harm," she told the Daily Mail on Oct. 15. “It’s obviously a comment on how much attention gets paid to stupid things.”

Many Swifties took offense to Wilde's comment because they perceived it as a diss against the pop star's frequent private jet usage. Some X (formerly Twitter) users also wondered what Wilde has done in the name of climate change.

One person wrote, "Go on Olivia Wilde tell us all the great things you've done and been so loud about to help against climate change."

Other X users pointed out that the actress didn't seem to have climate change in mind when she traveled to several of Harry Styles' concerts when they were dating.

Another person wrote, "Olivia Wilde suddenly caring about climate change is wild considering she didn't mind flying all over the world to follow her bf on tour."

Still, others seemed to have understood Wilde's intended point, and they attempted to clarify it for others too.

"I'm no fan of Olivia Wilde, but the number of people who don't understand the tweet she posted is crazy," one user wrote. "It wasn't a Taylor dis[s]. She's saying that if Taylor can make people who didn't care about football suddenly care about football, imagine what she could do for climate change."

Swift and Kelce first sparked dating rumors in September when she watched a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears from a luxury suite. The pop star has since attended two other Chiefs games and publicly stepped out with the tight end, seemingly confirming their relationship.

Meanwhile, Wilde dated Swift's ex, Styles, from early 2021 to late 2022.
