Olivia Wilde ‘Single White Femaled’ Kate Mara With Her New Hairdo

Olivia Wilde just debuted a dramatic new haircut and color at a Tiffany & Co. event in NYC. She is no longer a brunette and has lost inches off her mane. Does her new style look familiar? You may have seen it on House of Cards star Kate Mara.

The two sported almost identical hairstyles and matching red painted lips at the event. Wilde wrote on Instagram, “When you roll up to the party with your new look and it turns out you just single white femaled your friend you haven’t seen in a year.”

Rewinding back to December 2016, Wilde made another subtle hair transformation in hopes of keeping her hair from looking too similar to FLOTUS Melania Trump. Hairstylist Harry Josh cut her hair and added golden highlights. While showing off the new ‘do on Instagram, she used the hashtag #nomoremelaniahair.

With Wilde’s new platinum blonde, cropped-bob hairstyle, she most certainly has moved completely away from anything close to Melania Trump hair. While most of the hair is bright blonde, she opted to keep her roots a natural deep brown hue. Followers of Wilde on Instagram had mixed feelings about the look. One wrote, “I prefer black,” while another noted, “Stunning!!! You are gorgeous no matter what hair color you are rocking!!!!”

As for Wilde, she seems to be having a ball with her new look. She recently posted a photo on Instagram hinting that her new look may have been inspired by the lead singer of Blondie, Debbie Harry. While we can’t confirm that Harry was her exact hair inspo, we can clearly see that her new hair color is pretty darn close.

If you are a brunette looking to make a drastic hair change like Wilde, there are a few important points to keep in mind. Celebrity hairdresser Mark Hill explained to Yahoo beauty: “I would always advise you go to a hairdresser when you want to go this light — they will be able to use the correct product for your natural color. Don’t just reach for the bleach at home.”

He continued, “Once the hairdresser has colored your hair, they’ll probably have to use a toner to get that gorgeous icy result. Roots will need to be touched up every three weeks or so to keep the look fresh, and in between visits to the salon, you may have to use a toner shampoo to keep the cool tones.”
