One Costco Shopper Received a Ticket for Eating a Rotisserie Chicken While Driving, and the Internet Can't Stop Laughing
When someone tells you that they got a ticket while driving, the last thing you would expect is for Costco to be involved. The popular membership warehouse club is more known for its infamous food court and endless array of fan-favorite products rather than your common run-ins with the law. But in 2023, nothing is impossible. And now, thanks to an eye-opening post to the Costco subreddit, you just might be a little more careful on your drive home the next time you purchase a rotisserie chicken for dinner.
In what is probably the most comical depiction of an officer’s remark on a traffic violation issued to a mystery driver, a photo of a ticket posted to the Costco subreddit had shoppers doing a double take between bouts of laughter. The ticket, which appeared to have its photo taken while the driver was shockingly still operating their vehicle read, “Distracted while eating a rotisserie chicken and entered the other lane.” Upon finding the photo online, the original poster immediately turned to the Costco subreddit to ask “Which one of you was eating in the car?”

“Eating a rotisserie chicken requires 2 hands and 100% concentration,” joked one very elated reader. “Trying to drive at the same time would take away from the euphoric experience that is Costco’s rotisserie chicken.” Another fan of the popular membership warehouse added to the joke, “Do you even Costco in a rural area if the rotisserie chicken makes it home with both legs intact?” To which a third fan of the hilarious ticket responded, “I live 10 minutes from Costco and the amount of one-legged chickens I've brought home is staggering.”
One can only hope that the rotisserie chicken traffic violator was not the person who took the photo of their ticket while driving. But if there's one positive takeaway from this comical scenario, it’s that Costco fans can relate to the idea that the mystery driver was chowing down on chicken from their beloved bulk warehouse store.
And while we are all well aware of the safety concerns involving eating while driving, it's nice to know that there are folks out there who still can't resist the deliciousness that is Costco's rotisserie chicken. So much so that you'll need to remind yourself to keep those hands at 10 and 2 at all times. After all, no one likes a greasy steering wheel!
