Only 5 homes sit on Pebble Beach’s famous 18th hole. See one that just set $45M record
A home located on the world-famous 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links has set a record for highest residential sale in Monterey County at $45 million, according to Coldwell Banker.
The 10,500-square-foot home on 1.76 acres of meticulously groomed landscaping was owned by John J. Moores, according to public records. Moores, a Texas millionaire, is the former owner of the San Diego Padres. He purchased the property in 1994 for $7 million, according to public records.
The so-called “Masterpiece on 18,” at 1544 Cypress Drive, closed Monday. There are very few homes located directly on the legendary 18th hole, where residents also enjoy sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.
One of the famous cypress trees on the fairway of the 18th hole stands directly off the back patio of the home and is framed beautifully from inside through a wall of glass.
“We are delighted that we could orchestrate a successful discreet marketing and sale of our client’s estate, one of only five prestigious homes located on the 18th hole of this iconic golf course,” Tim Allen, a listing agent with Tim Allen Properties, which is affiliated with Coldwell Banker Realty, said in a statement.
“The allure of unparalleled amenities and spectacular ocean views awaiting the new owners has propelled this closing to an all-time record high for Monterey County home sales,” he added. “We extend our warmest wishes to the new owners as they enjoy their awe-inspiring modern home in this beautiful location.”
The name of the new owner wasn’t disclosed.
The five-bedroom, 10-bathroom modern home was designed by architect Robert Griffin.
Previously, the highest-priced home sale in the county was a $40 million deal in 2022 for a historic home perched above the ocean called “Seaward.” Brad Pitt owns that Carmel Highlands residence.
