The collection features 21 new polish shades, including Glinda’s signature sparkling petal pink and Elphaba’s green skin tone.
In addition, four press-on styles worn by “Wicked” characters, including Ariana Grande’s Glinda and Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba, will also be on sale.
The nails take inspiration from the characters’ stories in the film, an adaptation of the stage musical, and were designed by Frances Hannon, the Academy Award-winning makeup, hair and prosthetics designer.
Hannon said the fantastical nail looks were inspired by the “rich sets and costumes, lead character arcs, and shades of green found in nature.” Adding, “Elphaba’s manicure progresses to a longer, stronger look with powerful nail art as she develops her sense of self and discovers her true potential.”
Hannon also described Glinda’s French manicure as “stylish, elegant, and timeless with small emerald embellishments to reflect her privilege and popularity.”
Erivo has also been announced as OPI’s global brand ambassador.
In her new role, the multihyphenate talent will continue to showcase her passion for nail art.
Previously, the actress sported a surreal French manicure embedded with plants, petals and shiny beetles at the Met Gala. At the Tony Awards, a floral 3D manicure flashed on her fingers.
“Nail art offers a lovely way to express what I’m feeling, at any particular moment in time,” said Erivo. “It’s an extension of the story I want to tell and an extension of who I am. With length, or color, or design, you can show people a little bit of who you are.”
“Cynthia is an absolute force, and OPI is so excited to partner with her,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s cofounder and brand ambassador.
“Nail color and nail art offers an amazing way to showcase your personality in a way that’s joyful and unique to each individual user. Cynthia embodies this sentiment with show-stopping nail art that gives all of us a snapshot of her creativity, confidence, and sense of fun,” she added.
