Oprah shows off 3 head-turning hairstyles for new O Magazine covers
People were so blown away after Oprah delivered an empowering speech at the 2018 Golden Globes — and became the first black woman to receive the Cecil B. DeMille award — that many began to cheer her on to run for president of the United States. Hence, the hashtag #Oprah2020 was born. Just a few days later, she’s still capturing everyone’s attention with not one, but three amazing magazine cover hair looks that are hard to miss.
On Instagram, O Magazine shared a radiant photo of Oprah wearing a dazzling gold dress along with voluminous Diana Ross-inspired hair. The accompanying caption read, “Oprah is a woman of many moods — and hairdos. For each of February’s three covers, stylist @nicolemangrumhair created a transformative look using wigs and hairpieces. First up: A curly mane that unleashed her inner Diana Ross.” The following two covers showed Oprah wearing a tricolored spiraled ponytail with a mix of purple and peach hues, and a piecey bob-length hairstyle featuring full bangs.
Fans of the brand and Oprah were swept off their feet and left comments such as, “Own it girl, loving what I see,” and “If my hair could do this, I would unapologetically do it every single day. So magnificent.”

While we don’t all have Oprah’s hairstylist Nicole Mangrum on demand, Mangrum did lend her tips for getting a glorious full head of curls on Instagram. In the post, she suggests starting by applying curl cream to wet hair and diffusing it to dry and add body. Then it reads, “Create curls or accentuate existing ones by wrapping sections around a small 3/8-inch curling iron.” Next, “let the curls cool and set. To achieve ’70s-style volume, brush out hair with a boar-bristle paddle brush and add hairspray for hold.”
On Wednesday, the magazine shared a video of Oprah getting dolled up with her powerful pink ponytail look, and during the short clip she shares, “I never thought I was the kind of woman to do pink hair, but I’m kind of liking it. How many hairdos can I get? I don’t know, I think it’s a lot. The fact that I am now turning to pink hair means, oh, the world is changing. Let me just say that. The world’s changing big. A change is going to come. It has already come.”

With the quick change of three dramatically different looks, hair extensions and wigs likely played a major part. But faux or not, the latest reveal of all of the new covers is keeping lots of fans excited about the 63-year-old media mogul and her stunning strands.
