Outdoor play encouraged at Fun Fest Kids Central
KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Children in Kingsport were able to enjoy outdoor play at the Fun Fest Kids Central activity area.
The area, sponsored by Niswonger Children’s Hospital, gives elementary school-age children a place to play outside and take part in educational activities.
“It’s a super fun event for kids and families to get out, get active, get engaged, get some education, just have a great time,” said Tiffany Alford, the manager of the Children’s Resource Center.

The two-day event at the V.O. Dobbins Sr. Community Center features a mini-triathlon, performances and the Indian Path Community Hospital “Extreme Challenge” for children to compete in.
“We’ve got pool noodle drumming, we’ve got a bubble party, we’ve got story time, we have a parachute party added this year so that’ll be fun,” Alford said.
More than 1,000 children take part in Kids Central each day. The event runs from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday and from 1-5 p.m. on Tuesday. All activities at Kids Central are free.
