How to Make Your Own Pumpkin Spice (and Drink All the Lattes at Home)

Real talk: Fall isn’t about the foliage or the football. The true backbone of the season? Pumpkin spice. And happily, this combo of flavors is easy to make yourself at home.

What you’ll need: Dig around the back of your cabinet for cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice and cloves. (If you want to add some sweetness, you could also add a dash of mace.)

What to do: The best part of making your own pumpkin spice (apart from all the money you’ll save) is that you can tinker with the recipe to get it exactly how you like it. Love cinnamon? Add some more of it. Can't stand nutmeg? Leave it out. But the general breakdown is: 4 teaspoons of cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of ginger and 1 teaspoon (each) of nutmeg, allspice and cloves. Mix them all together and store in an airtight container. That’s it.

How to use it: On anything and everything. (Seriously.) Add to whipped cream, baked goods (bread, muffins, pies, cakes), roasted squash, icebox cake, yogurt and oatmeal. Oh and to make your very own #PSL, of course.
