The Platinum Jubilee—the official celebration of Queen Elizabeth's 70th year on the throne—is almost upon us, and as has become a tradition for royal milestones like this, the palace has released a new official portrait of the monarch to mark the occasion.

Taken by Ranald Mackechnie (who also shot the Queen's portrait for her 90th birthday, as well as one to mark the start of a new decade in 2020), the portrait features Her Majesty in the Victoria Vestibule at Windsor Castle on May 25 this year.

In it, she wear a soft dove blue coat and dress with pearl and diamante trim. The look was designed by Angela Kelly, the Queen's longtime confidant and wardrobe advisor. The two are so close, the Queen even granted Kelly permission to publish a behind the scenes look at life in the royal household, with her The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe in 2019—making her the first-ever member of the royal staff to be given permission to write and release a book—and even to update it this year for the Jubilee, so it's no surprise that she was also tapped to design something for this historic portrait.

The Queen also released a statement along with the portrait, saying, "Thank you to everyone who has been involved in convening communities, families, neighbours and friends to mark my Platinum Jubilee, in the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth. I know that many happy memories will be created at these festive occasions. I continue to be inspired by the goodwill shown to me, and hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved during the last seventy years, as we look to the future with confidence and enthusiasm."
