TEA WITH PALACE: In a collaboration with cross-generational flavor, Palace has teamed with Wedgwood on a series of skateboard designs and a bone china tea set. The collection, Palace Wedgwood, will launch on Friday.

The collaboration includes a teapot, cup, saucer and plate featuring a strawberry graphic pattern from Palace’s archive that takes inspiration from Wedgwood’s wild strawberry and vine pattern.

Palace and Wedgwood have also created skateboard designs that feature the skate brand’s graphic strawberry print and Wedgwood’s signature blue hue.

The British photographer Alasdair McLellan shot the campaign inspired by the longstanding BBC TV series “Antiques Roadshow.” The film and stills feature Palace “riders” Savannah Stacey Keenan, Danny Brady and Chewy Cannon alongside the show’s ceramics expert Lars Tharp.

Palace Wedgwood will be sold at Palace stores and online, and exclusively at Wedgwood, Harrods.

Asked about the collaboration, Palace founder Lev Tanju said that when he was growing up his grandmother “had some Wedgwood for special occasions. So I guess it’s always been special in my mind.

“They are the best at what they do, and have made so many amazing historical prints and patterns. We really wanted to do something special for ourselves. It’s amazing working with iconic English manufacturers of beautiful things,” Tanju added.

Wedgwood said the collaboration is in keeping with its approach, and the company has “opened its doors to many creatives” throughout its history.

Of late, its vision has been “to reinstate Wedgwood as a creative hub for artists, welcoming mavericks and design pioneers to express themselves freely. Palace reflects a freedom of expression, optimism and authenticity that juxtaposes perfectly with Wedgwood’s craftsmanship and artistry,” the company said.

It added the project “shows the brand’s ambition to do things differently,” and proves it’s not afraid to “challenge preconceptions, encourage experimentation and embrace innovation through unexpected collaborations.”

Wedgwood has worked with Topshop Unique and Mulberry, although it’s not a regular collaborator like Palace, which usually forges ties with fashion and sports brands.

Over the past year, Palace has launched viral collaborations with GucciCalvin Klein and Tour de France Femmes and in the past has worked with the likes of Oakley, Juventus, Adidas, McDonald’s and Rimowa.

Wedgwood is a 260-year-old brand known for its fine bone china and luxury homeware collections, which have attracted many fans in the world of fashion over the years.

Last year, The Victoria & Albert museum added to its Wedgwood Collection with the purchase of a rare, Art Deco tea and coffee set that had been previously owned by Karl Lagerfeld.

The Campanula tea and coffee set was designed by Paul Follot for Wedgwood and acquired from the estate of the designer, a voracious collector, who died in 2019.
