Pamela Anderson Explains She Went Makeup Free After Personal Loss
Pamela Anderson may be best remembered for her iconic grungy makeup, but those days are long gone, according to the actress.
In a profile published in Elle on Tuesday, Aug. 17, the 56-year-old Baywatch alum revealed that she "abandoned her signature look" after the death of her makeup artist Alexis Vogel, who tragically passed away from breast cancer in 2019.
"She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup."
Prior to Vogel's death, Anderson was almost always caught rocking a bold black and silver smokey eye–no matter what time of day–paired with a plumpy nude lip. And in the case that her lipstick wasn't nude, it was either frosted or a pinky red.
Anderson revealed to the publication that she didn't have much say over her style at the time, explaining, "I just went along with what people were telling me what to do."

But nowadays, the former Home Improvement star is embracing a more natural look, which she described as "freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious too."
"I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite what everyone’s doing," Anderson shared.
The V.I.P actress continued, "I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really...what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey."
That said, Anderson suggested it's been a pleasant one. "I feel rooted for," she said. "I feel good. I’m in a good place."
